Join us for an artist talk with Ioana Vreme Moser, whose solo exhibition Arsenic Ballerinas is currently on view at Krupa Art Foundation. The lecture offers a unique opportunity to explore the research process behind the exhibition and the ideas that informed the project.
During the talk, Ioana Vreme Moser will trace the journey of heavy metals from historical toxic cosmetic recipes to communication technologies and espionage concealment agents. Drawing on research and hands-on experiments with pigments and powders conducted for the Arsenic Ballerinas project, she will reveal the multifaceted history of lipstick and its unexpected connections to science, technology, and politics.
Archival electronic circuits, images, and radio transmissions by the Young Lady Operators network uncover surprising links between toxicity, beauty, and technological development. In this context, cosmetic mineralogy emerges as both a deadly agent and a semiconductor—an instrument of communication, resistance, and transformation.
The talk accompanies the exhibition Arsenic Ballerinas, on view at Krupa Art Foundation from July 15 to October 4, 2026.
