Embroidered | Basics Workshop Series
April – June 2026

This series of introductory embroidery workshops offers a foundation in a traditional craft technique while presenting its potential for contemporary application. Each session focuses on a few simple stitches, which participants immediately apply in developing their own projects. As a result, from the very first class, participants create aesthetically satisfying forms that provide both a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue learning.

The program is designed in a modular format—each workshop builds on previously acquired skills, while also functioning as a self-contained unit. This makes it possible to attend the full series or join at any stage without prior preparation.

Classes are conducted at a calm pace, with an emphasis on hands-on practice and individual guidance. It is a space both for learning the basics and for creative experimentation with color, texture, and composition. The series provides a solid foundation for further developing embroidery skills and discovering one’s own style.

Dates:

  • April 30
  • May 28
  • June 25

Cost:
150 PLN / single workshop or 400 PLN / full series | Buy tickets online

All necessary materials will be provided on site.

Amore Teodore, also known as Ewa Rakiel — an ethnologist by training and an instructor of artistic crafts (Folk University in Wola Sękowa). For years, I have been developing my passion for traditional craftsmanship, learning various techniques from masters in their respective fields. Over time, from a wide range of interests, one leading passion emerged—embroidery. My journey with this technique began 15 years ago. For two years, I studied under Maria Suwała, a master of embroidery and lace from the Podkarpacie region.

The style of my work goes beyond place of origin, residence, or the tradition associated with my teacher. In my practice, I focus on small forms—flowers that would traditionally appear on table linens instead find their place on tiny earrings and delicate pendants. I draw inspiration from the natural world, yet animals and plants in my embroidery often take on fairy-tale-like stylizations. I aim to transform traditional craft into colorful, appealing, and functional objects. These include brooches, earrings, and pendants, embroidered and embellished with appliqué techniques and fine beads. Through them, I introduce the beauty of traditional craftsmanship into a world filled with mass-produced, low-quality items.

For my work, I have received distinctions in competitions organized by the Ethnographic Museum in Wrocław: in 2021, an honorable mention in the Etnolifestyle competition, and in 2022, an honorable mention in the #wielkaMOCcompetition.
