We invite you to a premiere reading of poems from Emilia Konwerska’s latest collection, Promise, accompanying the exhibition It’s Time for Us by Artur Żmijewski and Paweł Althamer.

The event brings together two autonomous artistic practices—poetry and visual art—which converge around questions of relationships, coexistence, memory, and the possibility of understanding. Konwerska’s poems, presented publicly for the first time as an integral part of the exhibition, will resonate within its space, opening an additional perspective on themes explored in the works of Żmijewski and Althamer.

It’s Time for Us is an exhibition about what emerges in between: between two imaginations, two pairs of hands, different experiences, and distinct ways of seeing the world. Similarly, Konwerska’s poetry remains attentive to spaces of encounter and the tensions that arise where individual experience meets the shared and collective.

Emilia Konwerska is a poet, literary scholar, and curator. She is the author of the poetry collections 112 and The Last and First Cayman (Ostatni i pierwszy kajman), both nominated for the Gdynia Literary Prize, as well as the short story collection Things Made on Purpose (Rzeczy robione specjalnie). Her work has been translated into, among other languages, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Czech.

The evening will offer the first opportunity to hear poems from Promise performed by the author herself.

Emilia Konwerska is a poet, literary scholar, and curator. Her texts have appeared in, among others, Krytyka Polityczna, Vogue, Znak, and Tygodnik Powszechny. She is an editor of Notatnik Literacki. She is the author of two poetry collections: 112 (published by papierwdole) and The Last and First Cayman (Ostatni i pierwszy kajman, published by Wydawnictwo J). Both books were nominated for the Gdynia Literary Prize. Last year, her short story collection Things Made on Purpose (Rzeczy robione specjalnie), published by ArtRage, was nominated for the Empik Discovery Award, the Gdynia Literary Prize, and the Witold Gombrowicz Literary Award. Her poems have been translated into Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Czech, among other languages, and her books have been published in Ukraine and Serbia. She lives in Wrocław.
