KAF x Żyjnia: Field of Dialogue | Textile & Basketry Walk in the Wrocław Irrigation Fields | as part of the exhibition All The Diamonds
Saturday, 4 July 2026, 10:30 AM–1:00 PM

Dialogue Field is a unique space for exchanging perspectives between Żyjnia (BWA Wrocław) and Krupa Art Foundation, two neighbouring institutions located just off Wrocław’s Market Square. For this occasion, art extends beyond the walls of both venues, creating an opportunity to slow down and collectively explore the in-between landscapes that connect them. Bringing together the themes of the exhibition All The Diamonds with Żyjnia’s practice of attentive engagement with the landscape, the event turns its focus to the Wrocław Irrigation Fields—a space situated between the city and the countryside, where local histories, ecological processes, and the material relationships between memory and contemporary transformation intertwine.

This textile and basketry walk through the Wrocław Irrigation Fields invites participants to explore the relationships between landscape, vegetation, and craft practices. Treating the site as a living archive, artist Julia Ciunowicz encourages participants to observe wild-growing plant species with potential for fibre and basketry production, tracing their properties, histories, and possible uses. The walk begins with an exploration of how environmental conditions shape the structure of plants and their potential to be transformed into fibre, yarn, or woven forms.

The walk encourages careful attention to the surrounding environment and reflection on local material resources that often go unnoticed in everyday life.

Participants will experiment with extracting fibres and twisting wild plant cordage, approaching the process both as a way of learning and as a means of building a relationship with the place. The gathering will offer an opportunity to reflect on alternative material cycles and forms of knowledge rooted in the landscape.
