November 23, 2024 – March 2, 2025
Do you have a stone? A rock, a pebble? It could be big or small, rough or smooth, coming from your backyard or a faraway land. Bring your rock to the Krupa Art Foundation – Rynek 27/28, Wrocław.
We are looking for stones to accompany visitors in their journey through the upcoming exhibition “My Memory Isn’t Mine” as part of the in situ work by Anaïs Chabeur “Companions of Impermanence”.
Visitors to the exhibition will be given a stone to walk around the exhibition with. On leaving they will be asked to return it. This project is based on trust and care on the part of each participant, those sharing stones and visitors.
The stone, as an incredibly durable fragment of the Earth’s crust or a shard from other planets, serves here as a medium of memory, teaching awareness and rebuilding relationships with the environment and community. By having a stone, we are essentially caring for something that is collective, something that observes and collects traces of history.
By inviting others to share their stones, the artist blurs the boundary between the private and public spheres. As a result, a collective constellation is created in real time, through the space of touch, connecting fractions of soil, hands, those sharing and those receiving.
Drop off your stones until 11ts of November at the gallery Krupa Art Foundation (Rynek 27/28 Wrocław) during opening hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 12am – 6pm
Friday–Sunday: 11am – 8pm
Tuesday: closed
For those interested: For the purposes of the project, the given stones will be with us for the entire duration of the exhibition (22.11.2024–2.03.2025). In any case, it is temporary in nature. Once the exhibition is over, you can come back to us and pick up your stone untill 9 March 2025.
If you feel the need, please contact the artist for information on the artistic aspect of the work: anais.chabeur@gmail.com
