Did you know that Wojciech Fangor is the author of the first spatial installation made out of paintings in the history of Polish art? In 1958, at the “Study of Space” exhibition, he presented twenty canvases tightly arranged on frames, allowing the paintings to interact with each other. During the workshop, we will use this concept to create and present works prepared by the participants, drawing inspiration from spatial structures, for example paintings that bend in different directions.
Wojciech Fangor painted psychedelic waves and spinning wheels between 1961 and 1973. We invite families with children to explore this excerpt from his most spectacular period of artistic work during the workshops at the Wojciech Fangor. American Dream exhibition.”
Wojciech Fangor experimented with op-art. He wanted to create paintings that would resonate with sensory perception of space by the viewer. The exhibition Wojciech Fangor. American Dream centers around the issue of spatial immersiveness and the psychosomatic experience of the observer moving within it.
