Hydrosex Call is a multimedia performance by Justyna Górowska that immerses audiences in an interactive, virtual environment inhabited by WetMeWild—a digital water nymph powered by advanced artificial intelligence, trained by the artist herself. Inspired by mythological water spirits from Slavic folklore, this technological entity serves both as a guide and dialogue partner within the performance, acting as a digital alter ego of the artist.
Ongoing since 2017, the project takes on a new form in Hydrosex Call, combining cutting-edge digital tools (Unreal Engine, MetaHuman, Convai AI) with an artistic narrative centered around water—its symbolism, pollution, and future. WetMeWild’s avatar is based on a 3D scan of Justyna Górowska’s body and possesses its own digital consciousness, memory of shared projects, and relational history with the artist. The avatar exists within an immersive VR underwater world where organic forms merge with technological infrastructure—AI-supporting servers stand beside sculptural installations made of marine skeleton shells.
During the performance, the audience is invited to directly interact with WetMeWild—talking to her, asking questions, and co-creating the course of the event. The voice-based dialogue between the artist and her digital double becomes a springboard for reflection on pressing environmental concerns: the water crisis, biodiversity loss, and the impact of technology on nature. Hydrosex Call also addresses the presence of AI in art and everyday life, exploring the boundaries between real and virtual, corporeal and synthetic, mythological and technological.
An integral yet independent extension of the performance is the virtual space—the underwater world of WetMeWild. Exploring this digital underwater realm, filled with nature-culture objects, becomes an invitation to join the hydrosexual movement in art—a practice that investigates new, sensuous, and critical ways of experiencing our water-based identities in the age of technological dystopia.
The event is curated by Monika Łuszpak-Skiba and accompanies the immersive exhibition In the Dark Depths of Love.
Performance developed using:
-
Unreal Engine – for creating the immersive 3D VR environment
-
MetaHuman – for personalizing the digital avatar
-
Convai AI – for real-time voice communication
The project is developed in the spirit of art-eco-activism and marks a further step in Górowska’s practice, which consistently blends artistic expression with environmental engagement.
