Promise You Won’t Be Mad… Who among us hasn’t said those words to their mother?
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Krupa Art Foundation invites you to a special evening – a screening of internationally awarded animated films, all connected by a powerful, though often complex, mother–daughter relationship. What unites these four films is that their young female directors speak directly to their mothers – saying things they’re unable to express in everyday conversation. For them, film becomes a tool for honest, intimate dialogue. The event is curated by Monika Łuszpak-Skiba.
On the same day, there will also be a guided tour of the exhibition „Neurobiology of Love” – included in the ticket price for the screening.
These four deeply personal films by young women directors explore coming of age, love, and the unbreakable emotional cord connecting daughters with their mothers — a source of both strength and sorrow. Cutting that emotional umbilical cord is an inevitable part of growing up, but it never comes without pain.

Film Line-up:
My Mom
Dir. Agnieszka Popińska, PL, 12’40”, 2024 | Studio Filmowe INDEKS
A warm and humorous story about Jola – the director’s mother – and her six siblings. A film about communication gaps and the unspoken things we struggle to say to the people we love the most.
Can You Hear Me? | Studio Animoon
Dir. Anastazja Naumenko, PL, 15’00”, 2024
A poignant series of chats between a daughter and mother via an online messenger. The generational divide becomes apparent in both digital fluency and emotional understanding, revealing forgotten family stories and half-finished conversations.
I Am Blue
Dir. Weronika Szyma, PL, 6’52”, 2023 | Fumi Studio
A mother and daughter try to find their footing after the father’s departure. Set on a metaphorical beach, their quiet moments are filled with longing and uncertainty. The sea beckons with the promise of freedom but also terrifies with its vastness.
Braided
Dir. Chenxi Zhang, US/CN, 6’19”, 2023
Told through the metaphor of tightly braided hair, this film captures the intensity of mother-daughter ties — and the pain of letting go. Why is it so hard to say “I love you” out loud, and why does the question “Mom, can you come get me?” echo in life’s hardest moments?
The partner of the event is the International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR, which will start on July 5, 2025 in Poznań.
Special thanks to our event partner, Organique — each ticket holder will receive a fragrant gift to take home.
