KAF Project Space is one of the Foundation’s exhibition venues, located on level -1. It is a unique part of the gallery that remained undiscovered for years until it was accidentally found during renovation works in the townhouse. As the only space of its kind, it has preserved the historical character of its architecture. During the Cold War, it served as an air-raid shelter for the residents of Wrocław. Today, alongside visual art, the space permanently displays restored objects that bear witness to its past — including the original shelter door and an old air pump.

Symbolically preserving its original function, KAF Project Space now serves as a shelter for contemporary art and experimental artistic practices. It is a place for presenting projects encompassing a wide range of media and approaches, with particular emphasis on new media and workshops organized as part of the Foundation’s educational program. It often becomes a site where explorations of digital art continue — building on those developed in the immersive gallery (KAF Digital) located just before the entrance to the shelter.

The theme of shelter returns in creative interpretations, becoming a pretext for artistic dialogues and responses to contemporary crises. The exhibitions address social and environmental issues, engage with the urban body and collective experience, and explore anti-utopian visions.
