Beyond the Line | Experimental Drawing Workshops at KAF
September – December 2026

We invite you to join a series of experimental drawing workshops where we will push beyond the boundaries of traditional drawing and explore its unexpected possibilities.

As part of the Beyond the Line programme, we will approach drawing as a tool for exploration, experimentation, and the development of a personal visual language. Rather than focusing solely on paper and pencil, we will work with unconventional materials, techniques, and formats, investigating how a line can exist in space and how images can be constructed through layers, stencils, and performative actions.

The starting point for the first workshops will be the exhibition Marilyn Monroe. I Feel I Know Her, but Sometimes My Arms Bend Back , which will serve as a catalyst for reflections on identity, image-making, and self-expression. Traditional drawing techniques will become a foundation for creative experimentation and for moving beyond established conventions.

Upcoming workshop: Speak Up! Poster Drawing | Wednesday, 10 October 2026, 5:00 PM |

Speak Up! is the second workshop in the Beyond the Line series, during which we will experiment with drawing in the form of a poster.

Our starting point will be drawing as a means of communication. Participants will use it to convey a specific idea, opinion, emotion, or slogan. Together, we will explore how images can communicate clearly, directly, and effectively without relying on many words.

Throughout the workshop, we will simplify shapes and search for signs, symbols, and forms that best express a chosen message. We will combine these with typography, examining how image and text can complement one another and work together to create meaning.

The primary technique will be marker drawing, a medium that encourages the reduction of detail and a focus on synthesis. Rather than concentrating on fine details, we will work with line, shape, form, gesture, and areas of tone, seeking visual solutions that are both expressive and easy to read.

rys. Monika Litwa

Illustrator and graphic designer. In 2025, she completed her MA in Graphic Arts at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław.

Drawing has been a fundamental tool throughout her artistic practice, serving both as a component of the design process and as an independent means of expression. In her work, she experiments with techniques, combines different media, and seeks new approaches to image-making.

As a workshop leader, she values curiosity, openness, and creative freedom. She aims to share not only technical skills but, above all, the belief that drawing can be a space for self-discovery and for developing one’s own way of seeing the world.
